WILLIAMS, Ore. -- The owners of a cat that survived an estimated two weeks trapped in a hot water heater say she is recovering at home after being treated for burns and other injuries.
Debra and Stuart Wright of Williams say their part-Persian cat Monique was missing for weeks when their neighbors called Feb. 27, saying they had found her.
They said Monique had likely gotten into their garage and somehow trapped by the water heater.
When she was found she had been burned by the hot water flowing through the pipes, lost four pounds, and suffered a broken tail that could not be saved.
She was left with a stub after returning from the veterinarian's office, where she was kept for nearly two weeks.
