JACKSONVILLE, Ore. - The shows will go on for the opening nights of the Britt Festival and Oregon Shakespeare Festival's outdoor stage, despite the unpredictable weather.
OSF crews spent Friday preparing the stage and props for the Elizabethan Outdoor Theater. OSF representatives say ticket holders can get a rain voucher if they are concerned.
"They have until intermission to get a rain voucher. So if they choose to leave the theater, then they can do that," says OSF Manager Amy Richard.
Richard says the rain could slow the tempo of the play. For the actor's safety, they may have to wear rain gear over their costumes.
Meanwhile, Britt Festival managers say the Los Lonely Boys show will go on even if it rains, as long as patrons and the electrical equipment are still safe. Britt says it has never had to cancel a performance due to weather.
However, both OSF and Britt say they will halt activities in the event of lightning.
On Saturday, India Arie and Chris Mann will perform at 7:30 p.m. Upcoming shows include Howie Mandel and John Mendoza on Friday the 19th. Sunday the 21st will see Les Claypool and the Yard Dog Road Show.
