ASHLAND, Ore. --Jackson County's 'Creek Safety Watch' group is issuing a seasonal creek warning for the summer.
The Rogue Valley Council of Governments says people should use care when coming into contact with the following waterways:
Ashland: Neil Creek and Butler creeks
Phoenix: Payne and Coleman creeks in Phoenix
Medford: Larson, Lazy, Baby Bear, and Bear Creek Park
Central Point: Griffin and Jackson Creeks
Officials say to avoid swallowing water or bringing it in contact with open wounds. To help prevent creek bacteria, people are asked to report failing septic systems. Officials warn not to dump kitty litter or other waste near streams, and to keep toddlers in swim diapers when around water.
