NEAR CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. -- Fire investigators say that at least one of the five fires that broke out in Cave Junction Wednesday was arson, and are calling the other four 'suspicious'.

The first fire, the one determined to be arson, broke out just after 2 p.m. Wednesday near Daisy Hill in Cave Junction.

The other four fires broke out in the 3,200 block of Caves Highway, across the street from several homes. The fires did eventually cross the road. Homeowners say they had to use garden hoses to help stop the fire from reaching their homes.

Investigators say the four fires along Caves Highway are connected, but cannot say if those are connected to the Daisy Hill fire at this time. Investigators are looking into the possibility of fireworks as a possible cause.

Witnesses at the Daisy Hill fire say they saw a 4-door, 1980s, light blue Buick leave the scene carrying two males and one female. The female reportedly yelled, "get in the car and drive."

A firefighter was also injured battling one of the fires. He was hit in the head after a hose ruptured. He was taken to Three Rivers Hospital, but has since been released and is reported to be OK.
