YREKA, Calif. - The trial for a man suspected of kidnapping and murdering a young Happy Camp boy 33-years-ago continues in Yreka.

On August 28, 1976 six-year old William Cook Jr., also known as Willie, disappeared from a Happy Camp service station. His body was found about six months later in a cardboard barrel near the Klamath River. Gregory Nelson, age 52, and Suzane Little, age 70, were arrested in October of 2008 for Willie's kidnapping. The first arrests in the case.

The defense's arguments are in their 8th day. Jurors have been watching and listening to old interviews of witnesses all week. On Thursday, the jury watched an interview with Nelson conducted by the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office last October. During that interrogation, Nelson told police that he took Cook to Hoopa the night he disappeared. However, the defense called Officer Chris Rees with the Siskiyou Co. Sheriff's Office. Rees testified that there is a police report from the time of the kidnapping that says Nelson was in Happy Camp at his parent's house that same night.

The defense hopes to be done with its arguments next week. The prosecution will then be allowed to make a rebuttal.

Suzane Little also appeared in court earlier this month. She is charged with kidnapping Cook. Her trial is pushed back to November 19th.
