SEASIDE, Ore. -- Oregon coastal communities spent Tuesday trying to get things back to normal after a powerful November storm slammed the area with high winds and heavy rain.
 
Winds exceeded 60 mph in some parts of the north coast on Monday. Farther south, wind gusts at or exceeding 89 mph were reported at Waldport and Garibaldi. A gust clocked at 95 mph rocked Cape Foulweather.
 
In Seaside, the roof of the old City Hall building blew off. Flooding south of Seaside caused U.S. Highway 101 to be closed for hours to small vehicles but state transportation officials said the highway reopened to all traffic by late Tuesday afternoon.
 
Pacific Power says crews working around the clock managed to restore electricity to Cannon Beach customers by about 5 p.m. Tuesday. The utility says nearly 2,700 customers lost power because of wind damage to three transmission towers.
 
Cannon Beach Elementary School was closed Tuesday because of the outage.
 
The U.S. Coast Guard closed the bars at the Columbia River and Tillamook Bay on Monday night but reopened them to boat traffic about 9 a.m. Tuesday.
 
The National Weather Service predicts another coastal storm for Wednesday night.
