MEDFORD, Ore. - Mercy Flights of Medford is seeking almost four million dollars in lottery grants to rebuild its hangars at the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport.
Airport managers and Mercy Flights officials briefed Jackson County commissioners on the plan Thursday morning. The air and ground ambulance non-profit is applying for a share of 'Connect Oregon Three' dollars set aside by the state Legislature this year.
"The project is to replace some of our hangars at the airport, and one hangar that has an office facility in it for our on-duty crews that use it as crew quarters," Mercy Flights General Manager Ken Parsons said.
Most of the buildings were put up in the later 40s or early 50s and do not fit the size of Mercy Flight's current aircraft and other needs.
Final word on who gets the grants is not expected until next August.
