GRANTS PASS, Ore. - The city of Grants Pass has a connection to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade this holiday season.

The Fiberoptic Lighting Corporation was asked to make four large double sided signs for the entrance of Macy's flagship store in New York City.

The signs are hanging from the ceiling just inside where the parade took place thursday.

Fiberoptic representatives say the company only had around a month to complete the signs, and employees were rushing to get them to New York this Monday.

"These are very complicated, and we have to put a lot of stuff in small space. And so its takes about five people to make one sign if you start on day one and go through day five," said Hyla Lipson with Fiberoptic Lighting.

Each side of the sign has around 6,700 fibers creating a pattern on the face. About six miles of fiber is used within the sign.
