MEDFORD, Ore. - The city of Medford is moving forward with the Crater Lake Avenue realignment project that's designed to alleviate traffic problems in the area.

The Medford City Council authorized the deposit of more than one-million dollars for the possession of a handful of properties along Coker Butte and Crater Lake Avenue to finish the construction.

"It's going to make it a lot easier to get down Highway 62. It moves the stop light from Cardinal avenue, which is in front of Costco, down to Coker Butte, and it realigns Coker Butte with that portion, which goes over by Lithia Motors then around to Leer Way," Medford Mayor Gary Wheeler said.

The city has not reached an agreement with the property owners at this time.

The Medford City Council authorized the eminent domain back in October 2008.
