LA GRANDE, Ore.-- A recently completed study shows it will cost between $17 million and $24 million to build a new court facility and law enforcement center for Union County.
The Union County Circuit Court is currently housed at the Joseph Building, a former hospital built in 1937.
A 2008 study ranked the building in La Grande as the poorest court facility in Oregon. It lacks appropriate security arrangements and accessibility for people with disabilities.
A task force appointed by the Union County Board of Commissioners has been exploring the possibility of constructing a new facility, which would include either a remodeled or a new law enforcement center.
