DUNSMUIR, Calif. -- The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office is looking for whomever broke into cars while wearing a Santa hat.
Detectives say several unlocked vehicles in Dunsmuir were broken into Thursday night.
The thief rummaged through each of the vehicles taking small amounts of cash and change, keys, an iPod and a MP3 player, a CD player, a backpack, a shotgun and other items.
A suspect in these thefts is described as a thin white male wearing dark clothing and a Santa Claus hat.

The Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that it is important to lock your car doors to help deter this type of crime.
