NEAR PHOENIX, Ore. -- An early morning car accident halted traffic in all four lanes on Interstate 5 Thursday morning near Phoenix.
Police say both vehicles involved were heading northbound when a car tried to pass a small pick-up truck. The two vehicles made some sort of contact before veering away from each other.
The pick-up truck flipped on it's side and landed on the shoulder of the northbound lanes. The car rolled at least once before landing in the south bound lanes. No one was seriously injured, though both drivers did get checked out at the hospital.
A dog was ejected from the car during the accident. Witnesses say the dog started running down the freeway in confusion. The dog then died after getting struck by another car. Police say wind and slick, wet roads may have been a factor in the accident.
