SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Almost every little girl grows up dreaming about being a princess and Sunday, more than 250 girls got that chance. A Family for Every Child hosted its second-annual "Princess for a Day" at Springfield's Holiday Inn.
The event is a chance for girls in foster care to get the princess treatment. They got their hair and nails done and were outfitted with princess must-haves, such as tiaras and slippers. Then, they got to go to a tea party.
"To see the look on their face, it doesn't matter what walk of life you come from, everyone wants to be a princess at the end of the day and they get a chance to. And they get a chance to be special," says Christy Obie-Barrett, president of A Family for Every Child.
Most of the 250 girls in attendance are in foster care. Obie-Barrett says she would like to organize a boys' event in the future.
