EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon has moved a group that has drawn protests for inviting speakers with views considered anti-Semitic off of its main campus and to the Baker Downtown Center.
Members of the Pacifica Forum discussion group told The Register-Guard newspaper they are OK with the relocation.
Dozens of UO students and others have staged protests at the forum's gatherings in recent months, insisting the group be removed from campus.
Other students and free-speech advocates have said forum speakers should be allowed to have their say on a public college campus.
No students belong to Pacifica Forum.
Its founder, 94-year-old Orval Etter, has been able to hold Pacifica events on campus under a long-standing university policy that lets retired professors book campus meeting space for free.
