MEDFORD, Ore. - A motorcycle driver is behind bars following a high speed chase between several law enforcement agencies Tuesday night that ended with a collision between the motorcycle and Jackson County Sheriff's deputy vehicle.

The driver, Kevin Cory, was taken to the Rogue Valley Medical Center, and then to the Jackson County Jail.

He was arraigned Wednesday on charges of eluding a vehicle, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance and driving while suspended.

Jackson County Undersheriff Rod Countryman says the pursuit started in White City near Modoc and Antioch roads after Cory failed to pullover for a traffic stop. The chase lead several units up Highway 234. While Cory tried to make a turn, he collided with a sheriff's deputy's car and lost control of the bike.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office used to have a no pursuit policy. Whenever a driver tried to elude police, deputies were forced to stop. However, that policy has since changed, and now the Jackson County Sheriff's Office is able to pursue anyone at anytime.

Cory's bail is set at $25,000. Another court appearance is scheduled for next week.

According to updated

According to updated accounts of this story, the motorcyclist did not collide with the sheriff, he slowed to take a turn and the sheriff ran into him, causing the accident. Granted, if said motorcyclist had not "run" this wouldn't have happened at all, but the actual "accident" was not his doing.
