ASHLAND, Ore. -- An Ashland organizer of a music and arts festival near Redding, Calif., has been left with about $200,000 in debts because of some last minute problems with the location.
Jason Gallagher of Mystic Garden Party says the festival was supposed to take place on private land. But a week before the event was supposed to begin on July 21, county planning officials denied the permit and Gallagher says they told media the festival had been canceled.
The event was moved, but Gallagher says the county's actions led to a big drop in ticket sales.
The annual event was planned for 3,000 but only 1,000 came. Gallagher has hired a lawyer and plans to sue Tehama County for losses and damages.
County officials say Gallagher misrepresented himself and the county did nothing wrong.
