ASHLAND, Ore. -- Universities across the nation are joining a movement to lower the drinking age from 21 to 18.
College presidents and chancellors from schools such as Duke, Dartmouth, and Syracuse are endorsing what is known as the Amethyst Initiative, which hopes that by lowering the drinking age, it will curb binge drinking on college campuses.
"I think it's always good to question whether or not practices that are in place in any important issue are working, and ask whether or not there are other ways to go about it," says Vice President of Student Affairs at Southern Oregon University Jonathan Eldridge.
