Craigslist the new marketplace for stolen goods

MEDFORD, Ore. -- Police are seeing an increase in stolen property for sale online.

Pawn shops used to be the go-to place for stolen merchandise, but tighter restrictions have forced criminals to turn to sites like Craigslist.

"We're regulated, especially from either the state or the police department. Everything we do basically goes through our computer system, which basically leads online, so everything goes to the police department. So they get all our records including buys and loans," says Pawn Shop Owner Peter Schulzke.

Craigslist makes it clear that posted items are the responsibility of the seller. If you suspect an item might be your stolen property, you should call police instead of trying to recover it yourself.
