GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- After the long-awaited grand reopening of the Josephine County Library in Grants Pass over the weekend, officials are looking into the possibility of opening three more branches.
Those branches are Williams, Illinois Valley, and Wolf Creek.
Josephine County Library Director Russell Long says their goal is to open them by the end of 2009
"We're working on a 90-day preliminary budget. So we hope that within two or three months we'll have a better feeling for what the costs are going to be," says Josephine County Library Director Russell Long.
Long says they will be looking for at least one paid position in each library. The Josephine County Library currently has only three paid employees. It is dependent on 250 active volunteers.
All Josephine County libraries were forced to close in May 2007 due to lack of funding.
The library's current hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Friday from 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. And Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
