MERLIN, Ore. -- Oregon National Guard members getting ready to deploy overseas will have one less thing to worry about.
Josephine County residents are starting a new food bank in Merlin that will provide food, baby supplies, and household staples to families who have a loved one serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.
"This has never been done. This is a pilot program, the first of it's kind at any national guard armory that we know of, we're hoping that this will go really good so it can move on to Medford, Klamath Falls, statewide, and then maybe even nationwide," says Nancy Kozminski.
If you would like to help with their effort, or find out more information, contact the armory in Merlin or the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Office in Grants Pass.
