MEDFORD, Ore. -- Gun stores are struggling to keep their shelves stocked with ammunition and supplies.

Black Bird in Medford says ammunition is flying off its shelves, with assault rifle and handgun ammo in highest demand.

Managers say a shipment they received last week is already gone. With demand so high, the cost of ammunition has almost doubled in the last year.

"We're like all the other ammo retailers, we've got a lot on order. Manufacturers cannot keep up with the demand. Between the military and the law enforcement, they're taking the majority of the ammo," says Black Bird Manager Tom Gascon.

Experts say the boom stems from worried gun owners, afraid the Obama administration will tighten gun laws.

Gun owners say primer and gun powder is tough to find. Black Bird says it got a shipment of primer last week, and it was gone within 24 hours.
