Blazers not keeping Frye

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Trail Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard says backup forward Channing Frye won't return to the team next season.

He told The Oregonian newspaper that the team decided not to make a qualifying offer to the free agent

The move allows Frye to become an unrestricted free agent, and prevents the Blazers from having the right to match an offer from another team.

Frye would have made more than $3 million, so the move opens up space under the salary cap.
