SEOUL, South Korea -- South Korea defense officials say North Korea has test-fired a total of four short-range missiles today.
One official reports that two ground-to-ship missiles were fired from an eastern coastal city. Officials say a third and fourth missile were launched later.
The Yonhap news agency says the missiles each had a range of up to 100 miles.
Japan's prime minister is calling the launches "provocative acts." Russia's foreign ministry spokesman says Moscow has urged North Korea against any action that would worsen tensions in the region.
South Korea's foreign minister notes that the latest tests are "not a good sign." He says North Korea is trying to show off its military might.
North Korea has also been threatening to test-fire an intercontinental ballistic missile. A Japanese newspaper reports that a launch in Hawaii's direction could come July 4.
