Biodiesel station opens in Ashland

ASHLAND, Ore. - A new biodiesel station that uses locally made fuel opened in Ashland Thursday.
 
Rogue Biofuels opened its first operating pump at Paradise Supply on Highway 99.
 
Biodiesel is currently at $3.25 a gallon, but consumers say the benefit of biodiesel and helping out the local community is worth the extra cost.
 
"Our biodiesel in part is made from locally collected waste and vegetable oil. So people can feel confident in knowing that some of the proceeds from each gallon of fuel that you buy from us are going into the pocket of a local restaurant or the pocket of a local farmer," Rogue Biofuels President Chris Benware said.
 
The waste collected to create biodiesel comes from many local restaurants like the Old Farm House and the Rogue Valley Mall.
 
Biodiesel users can also get a $200 tax credit from the state.
