YREKA, Ca. - A Yreka High School student died on Saturday, three days after collapsing at the end of a cross country race.

Chris Lopez collapsed after finishing a 3-mile race at West Valley High School on Wednesday.

The temperature during the race was over 100 degrees, but there is no word on whether the heat was a factor in Lopez's death.

A memorial fund has been set up through Tri Counties Bank. Donations will go toward helping the Lopez family.
