Should Ore. let medical marijuana users pack heat?

SALEM, Ore. -- Should Oregon let medical marijuana users obtain concealed handgun permits?

That question was before the Oregon Court of Appeals on Wednesday.

Sheriffs from Washington and Jackson counties are seeking clarification on whether federal law prohibiting illegal drug users from possessing handguns applies to people who have permits to use marijuana for medical reasons.

Lower courts had twice ordered the two sheriffs to give weapons permits to people who had lost them because they are medical marijuana users, and the sheriffs appealed those rulings.

A Portland lawyer argued in court Wednesday that under Oregon law medical marijuana users cannot be deprived of the right to a concealed handgun permit.

From a person who grew up in the 60s in SF bay area I have seen people go from grass to harder stuff... now living Oregon I have have a front row seat on growers and the kind of people that it brings to the grow site.. I dont think they need guns or any other kind of weapons....In fact now that the grow site is here I think I need one.........GUN ....By the way what do the growers do with the extra grass that they grow??????

I have an OCHL. I recently got a OMMP card but I haven't used pot since the 60s in Nam. I am looking for a job so I need to have a clean UA. Does this mean the county wants to take my CHL because the state of Oregon gave me a OMMP card. I haven't broken any laws, county, state, or federal.
