Bear Camp Road problems continue

BEAR CAMP, Ore. - Southern Oregon law enforcement agencies are still dealing with problems surrounding Bear Camp Road.

A day after an Alabama couple was rescued from the road, two men in a truck had to be rescued near the same spot. The men were found by Curry County Search and Rescue last Friday night. Their truck was stuck in snow.

The road provides a direct route between Galice and Gold Beach. However, during the winter months, heavy snow makes it almost impossible to navigate. At least 30 people have gotten lost on the route in the past 15 years.

The Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service have signs in place that warn people of the danger of trying to drive through the stretch.
