COOS BAY, Ore. -- A popular Coos Bay dance club is losing its liquor license.

Mak's Old City Hall Lounge has been open since the summer of 2007. Officials say the club's bartenders "over-served" their patrons, leading to brawls and other problems.

Between the club's opening in July 2007 and March of this year, police recorded more than 80 incidents at the downtown bar, more than all the other bars in the city combined.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission voted to revoke the club's license at a meeting earlier this month.

James Monsebroten, who represents Mak's, told the OLCC that the problems had mostly been corrected. He said the owners hired security officers, installed video cameras and kept a list of people who were barred from entering because of past problems.
