MT. ASHLAND, Ore. -- A Californian snowboarder is back home and safe after getting lost on Mt. Ashland.

Kurtis Tasqualetti was snowboarding on the south side of the mountain when he went out of bounds and lost track of where he was. Tasqualetti was carrying a cell phone at the time and called for help.

Jackson County Search and Rescue teams used a snow cat and snowmobiles to locate Tasqualetti about three hours later around 8:30.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters says the technology the man was carrying kept him safe.
