SACRAMENTO --- The powerful winter storms that pounded Siskiyou County in January will mean federal money will be coming to help pay for the clean up.

On Monday, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster declaration for Siskiyou County and five other Southern California counties.

The declaration makes state and local agencies as well as certain private non-profit organizations eligible to apply for federal reimbursement.

The money can be used for costs related to the implementation of emergency protective measures, debris removal and the repair and restoration of public facilities damaged by the severe storms.
