ASHLAND, Ore. - A motorcyclist is under arrest after a high speed chase ended with a collision with a Jackson County Sheriff patrol car.

Officers say the motorcyclist sped away from police during a routine traffic stop in White City. They say the driver lost control of the bike at the intersection of Highway 234 and Old Sams Valley Road.

Jackson County, Ashland and Oregon State Police responded to the collision at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday.

"I saw the cruiser hit the motorcycle, kind of on the front. The guy flipped and went up on the front bumper. Parts went on the other side of the road," said Jackie Murno, who witnessed the accident.

After being cleared by staff at the Rogue Valley Medical Center, the motorcyclist was transported to the Jackson County Jail on multiple charges.
