MEDFORD, Ore. -- There's a new bus service that could save ski lovers the hassle of driving up to the Mt. Ashland Ski Area.
This is the first year that the OC&W bus service is taking skiers up to Mount Ashland. Starting Saturday, the bus is planning to pick people up for just five bucks; and for just five bucks, the bus will pick you up and drop you off after you're done at Mt. Ashland.
The bus service priced the fee low as an introductory offer, but starting Sunday, the fee will change to $20 per person.
Manager Cole Watson says so far, almost their entire passengers are students. The service seems to be more accommodating for students who don't have a license or car, but adults can join in too.
Watson says the idea behind the bus shuttle was to help the community. The bus seats 35 passengers but the fee each person pays still won't break even with how much it costs the company.
"I've got a couple of sponsors helping out and we're just trying to get the bus back up there, get kids back up there and families," Watson says.
The spokesman says the bus has storage underneath the bus where skiers can store their gear and provides movies to watch as passengers wait. The spots are reservation only, click here for more information.
