    Local Unemployment Rate Ticks Down

    Total payroll in Jackson County rose by 1,630 in October, dropping the local unemployment rate nearly one full percent from the same time last year. According to a new report from the Employment Department, the new seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Jackson County is 8.5 percent.
