MEDFORD, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Transportation says it is 10 months ahead of schedule in the South Medford Interchange Project near Exit 27 on Interstate-5.

Officials say the 70 million dollar project should be completed by May.

On Thursday, crews were pouring cement for what will be the top deck of the interchange. This is the first of four pours crews are doing over the next few days.

ODOT is also set to open the new southbound on ramp next week. The new northbound off ramp opened in November.

The project, which began in June 2006, is designed to improve safety and traffic congestion problems in the area.
